You have come a long way, you have created your blog and you have set specific goals for it now it is time to start blogging.
Start Small
Blogs are a work in progress. Start with a few blog posts in one or two categories and go fro
m there. As you progress in your blog you and your blog will both grow.
Blogs are not meant to go through the approval process.
If you are starting your blog for a larger company you might run into the company wanting to approve everything through a marketing department. This process defeats the purpose of the blog and will do more harm than good in the end. People do not want to read another version of your news release or how great your company is. In fact, the most success blogs are those that rarely brag on the company at all.
Know why you are doing a blog.
You should already have your goals in mind; sell your product or service… Right? Well there you go with your giant megaphone yelling in their ear. They don’t care about products they care about the problems the product can help with. Writing about what matters most to your customers and clients will have a lasting impression; not only your products but about them.
Talk through your blog.
Your blog is designed to go both ways. You should respond to every post; not only the positive ones but the negative ones as well. It is a good idea to moderate your blog, by doing this you have to approve every comment before it is posted. This may seem like more work but you can catch spammers and pranksters. Besides it gives you a good opportunity to respond as soon as it is posted.
The best advice is the “keep it real” don’t try to be superficial or fake. If you look at your blog as an extension of your PR and customer service department it will be easier to achieve the results you are looking for.
Happy Blogging!
